I find an article that makes argument on mechanical engineers should be renewable engineers. The author’s name is Eric Limpaecher form Princeton University and he concentrates on electric, gas and other renewable resources as an engineer, and I think that his thoughts are advanced.
In the article, he says that the society needs more college students to be engineers and then to be renewable engineers as him. When he graduated from school, he started to focus electrical and electron because he thought and renewable engineering without any wastes and pollutions should be ultimate engineering for society. He also lists some doable renewable engineering in the article, such as power electrics, heat and magnetic. He hopes that all companies and organizations should give more money on renewable engineering and he also wants that all mechanical engineers should not only focus on machines or airplanes, but also they need more trains on renewable engineers. Although my classes level of mechanical engineers are low, but according to what I have learned so far, I would like to say I totally agree with the author’s argument. Just like I wrote a code of dealing water pollution for EGR 102 assignment, people started to realize that only renewable engineering should be developed, electrons, wind and heat, such as those pure energy should be used in all engineering field. However, what I concern about is that if we want to develop renewable engineers, there will be a lot of research fees, some organizations or companies may not want to afford them, they only focus on short benefits, and engineering students like me won’t concentrate on renewable engineers because if we want to find a job, the renewable stuffs will be useless for us. It is cruel but it is reality. Not only mechanical engineers should be renewable engineers, all fields should also find its renewable ways, that’s the way the society develops. Renewable engineers are imperative.
